RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — Along with the extreme heat, some central North Carolina counties are also dealing with thunderstorms.

At 7:10 p.m., the National Weather Service in Raleigh issued a severe thunderstorm warning for the following areas until 8 p.m.
- Southern Warren County
- Northeastern Nash County
- Northwestern Edgecombe County
- Halifax County
- Franklin County
A few minutes later, at 7:22 p.m., another severe thunderstorm warning was issued for the following counties until 8:15 p.m.

- Southwestern Vance County
- Franklin County
Cities and towns impacted by the alert include Rocky Mount, Roanoke Rapids, Halifax and Weldon, among others.
Forecasters said the main hazards with this storm are 60-mile-per-hour wind gusts.
