Carolina Hurricanes players to face top-ranked pickleball aces in Cary pro-am game

CARY, N.C. (WNCN) — Four Carolina Hurricanes champion players — along with the Stanley Cup trophy — will compete in a pro-am pickleball game in Cary Thursday night as part of events with the Veolia Pickleball National Championships.

A group of players from the Hurricanes, — Justin Williams, Sebastian Aho, Andrei Svechnikov, and Jalen Chatfield — will face top-ranked pickleball players in a match, a Carvana PPA Tour news release said.

Fans have the opportunity to meet Hurricanes players and have a chance at getting photos taken with the Stanley Cup, officials said.

Part of the funds from the events will go to the Carolina Hurricanes Foundation, according to organizers.

Veolia Pickleball National Championships and the Carolina Hurricanes pro-am game are taking place at Cary Tennis Park.

The championships are the Professional Pickleball Association’s second-largest of the tour, with more than 1,400 players in the mix and 2,000 ranking points up for grabs.

Competition started Monday with pro qualifying and will run all week, concluding on Sunday.

Tickets to the Thursday evening Carolina Hurricanes pro-am event can be purchased here. Hurricanes player meet and greet opportunities are available for VIP ticket purchasers, the news release said.

The schedule for events is below:

• 6 to 7 p.m. – Stormy meet-and-greet; photos with Stanley Cup and Hurricanes activations open for courtside ticket holders at Courtside Commons
• 7-8 p.m. – “Canes and the Cup Pro-Am” event on Humana Championship Court
• 8-9 p.m. – VIP mix and mingle with the Canes legends and the Stanley Cup

Cary Tennis Park is located at 2727 Louis Stephens Dr. in Cary with all Thursday night events at Humana Championship Court and Courtside Commons.
