We’ve seen five named storms so far this season. But the hurricane-free stretch continues, as September 12 marked the longest period without the first hurricane of a season on record. There are no signs of that changing anytime soon, as El Niño continues to cause a lot of wind shear over the main development region of the tropical Atlantic.
