RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — A high school rivalry football game in Raleigh Friday restarted after several fights broke out and police cleared the crowd from the stadium, police said.

The fights happened among spectators late in the Rolesville at Millbrook High School game on Friday night, according to the Raleigh Police Department.
Officers said a large crowd of about 6,000 showed up at the game as a few other area teams had bye weeks.
With Rolesville up 10-0, several fights broke out among attendees, which stopped the game with about 8 minutes remaining. The various fights led to extra officers and deputies being sent to the Millbrook stadium off Spring Forest Road.

Law enforcement had to break up the fights, with some of the altercations leading to minor injuries, police said.

The game restarted after the stadium was emptied of spectators, with Millbrook later tying the score at 10, forcing overtime. The game will be completed at a later date.
