Tropical Storm Hanna has sustained winds of 45 miles per hour and is moving east at 17 miles per hour, as of the 11 a.m. Monday advisory from the National Hurricane Center.
As with most systems this season, Hanna will encounter a lot of wind shear, which will keep it from becoming a hurricane. That continues the record-long streak of no hurricanes in a season. If we go the entire season without a hurricane, this year will join 1914 and 1907 for the only season without a hurricane (though that was before the satellite era).
