The lawsuit was brought by surviving victims and family members of the five people killed during the incident in Raleigh’s Hedingham neighborhood in 2022.

Hedingham Community Association, the neighborhood’s property management company; Capitol Special Police, the private security company hired to patrol the neighborhood that day; and an employee of the security company have all agreed to settle, according to online court documents.

Thompson’s parents, those documents say, are not part of the settlement.

Attorneys have asked the judge for a private hearing to confirm and approve the settlement details. The details will not be made public, according to court documents.

Thompson, who was 15 at the time of the shooting, was convicted earlier this year of the five murders and sentenced to spend the rest of his life in prison without parole.
