Man dies in single-vehicle Roxboro crash on Hurdle Mills Road

ROXBORO, N.C. (WNCN) — A man died in a single-vehicle crash in southern Roxboro on Saturday afternoon, police said.

The wreck was reported around 4:15 p.m. in the 900 block of Hurdle Mills Road/S. Main Street, according to a Roxboro Police Department news release.

Witnesses told police a man was driving in the area south of Durham Road when the car went off the right side of the road and hit an unoccupied parked car, the news release said.

The man’s car then crossed the road and hit an embankment, according to officers.

When emergency crews arrived, they found James Richmond, 65, of Roxboro, dead in the wrecked car, police said. Richmond was the only occupant in the vehicle.

“The cause of the crash remains under investigation,” police said in the release.
