NC State baseball makes NCAA Tournament, will play in Auburn regional

AUBURN, Ala. (WNCN) — NC State baseball made it off the proverbial bubble and into the NCAA Tournament.

The Wolfpack learned Monday that the team made the field for the 2026 NCAA Division I Baseball Championship. It will be head coach Elliot Avent’s final postseason run as the longtime skipper announced his retirement earlier this month.

NC State drew the Auburn Regional and will head down to Alabama as the third seed in the group. They’ll join host Auburn — the regional’s top seed and No. 4 overall seed in the country — along with second seed Central Florida and fourth seed Milwaukee.

The double elimination regional will start Friday when the Tigers and Panthers face off at noon. The Wolfpack will then face the Knights in the late afternoon game.
