RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — As a system makes its way across North Carolina, the National Weather Service in Raleigh has been issuing severe thunderstorm warnings Wednesday night.

The latest one was issued at 8:23 p.m. and encompasses Moore County, Lee County, southwestern Chatham County and southwestern Harnett County. That includes municipalities such as Sanford, Southern Pines, Pinehurst, Carthage and Aberdeen, among others. It is set to expire at 9:15 p.m.

According to NWS Raleigh, a severe thunderstorm was located from near Robbins to about five miles northwest of Sanford around 8:22 p.m. and moving southeast at 30 miles per hour. The cell is capable of producing 60 mile per hour wind gusts, forecasters said.
