After the recent warmth and mugginess, cooler and much drier air will make for a more comfortable start to the weekend. High temperatures will be held to the low 80s on Friday and Saturday as northerly winds continue to filter in the cooler air.

A weak cold front on Saturday could spark a few isolated showers, mainly across the Sandhills, but most communities will stay dry. Behind the front, the cooler and less humid pattern remains in place through the rest of the weekend.

Another reinforcing cold front arrives Monday, helping to keep the dry air locked in through the middle of next week. Temperatures will start off June running slightly below average before a gradual warming trend develops later in the week. Moisture and higher humidity levels may begin to return by next weekend.

Enjoy the stretch of cooler, comfortable weather before summer heat and humidity eventually make a comeback.
