RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — Get ready for an emotional ride this weekend with the premiere of Lifetime’s latest faith-based drama.

The film, titled “Thou Shall Not Commit Adultery,” stars Grammy Award-winning artist Erica Campbell as Cassie Davies, a prominent Christian feminist icon whose life takes a dramatic turn when she becomes the target of a blackmail scheme.

Campbell said the project took her out of her comfort zone, and she believes viewers can take something away from the film.

“This character, Cassie, is a real person, and infidelity doesn’t skip over the church or people just because they sing gospel music,” Campbell said. “And I think that it allows us to see a picture of how easily and slowly it happens when you rationalize and justify making things just about you.”

The film explores themes of faith, morality and integrity.

“Thou Shall Not Commit Adultery” premieres Saturday, June 6, at 8 p.m. ET on Lifetime.
