Playing at home Sunday, Carolina entered the late innings trailing and staring elimination in the face. Down two runs, Macon Winslow delivered the spark the Tar Heels needed, lining a two-out double into the gap to cut the deficit to just one.

The pressure only intensified in the bottom of the ninth.

Carter French found a hole through the infield, and Cooper Nicholson immediately flew from first to third to put the tying run just 90 feet away.

Then came Jake Schaffner with the season on the line. He lifted a sacrifice fly deep enough to center field to bring Nicholson home, tying the game at three.

With two outs in the ninth, Owen Hull stepped to the plate and launched a deep fly ball to center field that dropped untouched, setting off a wild celebration as Carolina completed the walk-off victory, winning 4-3.
