One more less humid day, then heat & humidity return to central NC

The weekend was hot and humid, then a cold front brought a slight dip in humidity and temperatures. While we get to enjoy the slight relief for one more day, the extreme heat returns to central North Carolina very quickly. By Wednesday, we’re back in the 90s with Thursday flirting with 100° once more. This could tie or break yet another high temperature in Raleigh.

We’ve already broken or tied 15 high temperature records at Raleigh-Durham International Airport this year, tying 2007 for the most record highs ever recorded in a single year. With more than six months still remaining, there is a good chance that mark will be surpassed before year’s end.

While the heat is a big story, we also still haven’t picked up much-needed rain, as storms have been hit or miss. Another cold front on Friday brings the chance for rain and storms, but right now the front should clear out just in time for the Stanley Cup Parade in downtown Raleigh on Saturday, leaving dry conditions for the celebrations as well as for Father’s Day Sunday. After the weekend, heat and high humidity return next week.
