Severe thunderstorm warning issued for several central NC counties, including Wake

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for all or parts of several central North Carolina counties.

According to the warning from the National Weather Service in Raleigh, the warning was issued for either all of or part of the following counties:

  • South central Wake County
  • Southwestern Johnston County
  • Harnett County
  • Southwestern Sampson County
  • Cumberland County
  • Northeastern Hoke County
  • Northern Sampson County

NWS Raleigh said the main hazard at the time of publication is 60 mile per hour wind gust and penny-sized hail.
