RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — Heat is on the way this weekend. A high-pressure ridge builds in on the day Friday, but we will notice the warmer air on Saturday. Highs will climb into the mid to upper 80s.

Sunday will be warmer still as highs reach the lower 90s, and we could flirt with the mid 90s on Monday and Tuesday. The heat wave will be with us through at least the middle of next week.
Friday will bring a beautiful day once again, with the last below-average day before the heat arrives. Rain is unlikely until the end of next week, when a cold front could offer both rain chances and a reduction in the heat.
The timing of the front next week is of low confidence right now and could be as early as Wednesday or as late as next Friday. A later timing could keep the heat around for a few more days. Ready or not, here comes a touch of summer in May.
