The Volusia Sheriff’s Office posted a video from a Ring doorbell and body camera video of the child’s arrest on Tuesday as a lesson about the dangers associated with this social media trend.
The Ring doorbell video shows the 12-year-old covering his face with his shirt before kicking the Deltona home’s door and running away.

Deputies arrested the child and set a court date, saying the incident was a lesson.
“I hate myself,” the child said to a deputy from a transport vehicle.
“Don’t hate yourself,” the deputy said. “You’ll be all right, buddy. Listen, I promise you. You’ll still be able to become a cop.”

The boy can be heard on video asking, “You promise?” The officer then reassures him: “I promise you that,” adding that “this is just a minor stepping stone in life.”

VSO said it continues to see this “dangerous trend,” and detectives are working to identify three people who also participated in Deltona on Wednesday.
“Parents, please talk to your kids about how dangerous this is,” VSO said. “Aside from a felony charge, it could get your child killed.”
