FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) — A woman died after she was stabbed during what police described as an isolated incident on Sunday night in Fayetteville.

Officers with the Fayetteville Police Department responded around 9:06 p.m. to a reported stabbing at a home in the 200 block of Lansdowne Road.
When officers and EMS crews arrived, they found a woman suffering from a stab wound, police said. She was taken to a nearby hospital, where she later died from her injuries.
Before she was transported, the woman identified the man who stabbed her, according to police. The suspect was taken into custody without incident.

Police said the stabbing was an isolated incident and that there is no ongoing threat to the public.
“Additional information will be released as it becomes available,” the department said in a Monday news release.
