Hurricanes trade away first round pick in 2026 NHL Draft to Predators

MORRISVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) — After a long night of playing spectator, the Carolina Hurricanes decided to stay that way until Saturday.

The Hurricanes traded the 31^st overall pick in the NHL Draft, their only pick in Friday’s opening round, to the Nashville Predators. In exchange, Carolina gets two second round picks from Nashville — the 42^nd and 57^th selections. Both will be made late Saturday morning in the second round of the draft. Before the trade, Carolina did not have a second round pick.

Nashville used the pick on Tommy Bleyl, a defenseman from Schenectady, New York, who spent this past season playing in Moncton, Quebec.
