The Hurricanes traded the 31st overall pick in the NHL Draft, their only pick in Friday’s opening round, to the Nashville Predators. In exchange, Carolina gets two second round picks from Nashville — the 42nd and 57th selections. Both will be made late Saturday morning in the second round of the draft. Before the trade, Carolina did not have a second round pick.

Nashville used the pick on Tommy Bleyl, a defenseman from Schenectady, New York, who spent this past season playing in Moncton, Quebec.
