Man accused of stealing, crashing 2 cars in Wake County denied bond: Records

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — The man accused of crashing two stolen vehicles minutes apart in Wake County last week was taken into custody Tuesday, court records show.

According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, 41-year-old Robert Jerry Bradley of Cary is accused of crashing a stolen vehicle on Ten-Ten Road near Old Stage Road just after 7 a.m. on June 25.

Bradley then allegedly stole a bystander’s vehicle, which he crashed into another car on Morgan Street and Snow Avenue, about 10 miles from the previous collision, according to the Raleigh Police Department.

Officials said Bradley was taken to WakeMed Hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

According to warrants, the vehicle involved in the first crash was a 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe SUV, which Bradley allegedly stole in Raleigh. The vehicle allegedly stolen from the scene of the first crash before being involved in the second was a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck.

A warrant filed by the NCSHP shows Bradley is facing the following charges in connection with the first crash:

  • Felony hit-and-run with injury
  • Driving while impaired
  • Reckless driving to endanger
  • Failure to wear seatbelt as the driver
  • Failure to stop at steady red light

  • Possession of a stolen motor vehicle
  • Hit-and-run with property damage
  • Reckless driving to endanger
  • Failure to yield to a stop sign
  • Failure to reduce speed

In the theft of the Hyundai Santa Fe, Bradley is charged with larceny of a motor vehicle, according to warrants filed by Raleigh police.

A warrant filed Wake County Sheriff’s Office shows Bradley is charged with additional counts of larceny of a motor vehicle and possession of a stolen motor vehicle for allegedly stealing the Chevrolet Silverado and driving the stolen Hyundai Santa Fe within the county’s jurisdiction.

According to court records, Bradley was released from the hospital and arrested on Tuesday after being served the warrants for the first crash, the second crash, and the theft of the Chevrolet Silverado.

Bradley made his first appearance in Wake County court on the charges connected to these incidents on Wednesday and was not given bond, according to records.

The same day as his court appearance, records show Bradley was served the warrant for the theft of the Hyundai Silverado. He is scheduled to return to Wake County court on this charge on Thursday afternoon.

Court records show Bradley was arrested and charged with breaking into a vehicle in Apex on June 24, the day before the two crashes. At the time of the two crashes, he was out on a $2,500 unsecured bond, which he posted the day of his arrest in Apex.
