Goldsboro man arrested trying to sell items stolen from parks and recreation building, police say

GOLDSBORO, N.C. (WNCN) — A man was arrested and charged with multiple felonies after the Goldsboro Police Department said he was found trying to sell items stolen from the Goldsboro Parks and Recreation building.

According to police, officers responded to a call about a break-in that happened in the early morning hours at the parks and recreation building on Peachtree Street on Tuesday around 8:15 a.m.

When officers arrived, they found that a car and several items had been stolen from the building. The vehicle was found a short time later, according to police.

At 3:50 p.m. later that day, police said investigators found the suspect, Erik Jamell Hamilton, in the 2000 block of East Ash Street.

According to investigators, Hamilton was found attempting to sell some of the items stolen from the parks and recreation building and was arrested.

Hamilton is facing charges several felony charges that include:

  • Breaking and/or entering
  • Larceny
  • Larceny of a motor vehicle
  • Possession of stolen property
  • Obtaining property by false pretense

Goldsboro police said Hamilton is being held on a $50,000 bond and made his first appearance in court on Wednesday.

The investigation is still ongoing, according to police.
