The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Detectives sought the public’s help with finding John Cobb by Friday afternoon, according to a Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office news release.
Cobb was last seen on Friday at 11 a.m. inside the Circle K store at 1571 McArthur Road, just north of Fayetteville near the Woodbridge community, deputies said in the release.
Just after noon on Saturday, deputies announced that Cobb was found dead. Officials said that his relatives were already notified.

Deputies told CBS 17 on Saturday that there appeared to be no foul play in Cobb’s death and there was nothing suspicious in the investigation.

Cobb disappeared during abnormally hot weather. Cumberland County deputies said weather conditions are considered during the search for a missing person.
“Speaking generally, weather conditions are always one of many factors that law enforcement personnel consider when assessing the urgency and scope of a search for a missing person,” Cumberland County Lt. Mickey Locklear said in an email to CBS 17.

“Extreme heat, high humidity, cold temperatures, or other hazardous environmental conditions can increase the potential risk to an individual’s health and safety,” Locklear added.
