On January 22, 2025, a winter storm was dumping snow and ice on Fayetteville. People were asked to stay inside and off the roads.

Fifty-year-old Nathan Kellon was in his house on Patrick Drive with his wife, his mother, and his grandchild.

At 2 a.m., he heard a knock at his door. Kellon was disabled from an accident, so it took him a while to get to the door. When he opened it, a person on his driveway shot him, ran to their truck and drove off.

First responders found Kellon bleeding in the doorway, and his family hiding in a closet upstairs on the phone with 911. Kellon was rushed to the hospital, where he died.

A neighbor’s security camera was triggered by the falling snow. You can see a person in a white Ford F-150 parking up the street and walking directly to Kellon’s house. Three gunshots are heard, then you can see the person drive off.

Police are still working to identify that suspect, and learn what their motive was. If you know anything, you are asked to call Fayetteville Crimestoppers at 910-483-TIPS.
