RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — A woman is dead after being hit by a car on New Bern Avenue in Raleigh Friday night, police said.
According to the Raleigh Police Department, officers responded to a call about a person being hit by a car on New Bern Avenue at about 9 p.m.

According to police on Saturday morning, 54-year-old Nicole Shawnette White was trying to cross the street when she was struck by a vehicle. The news release said she was transported to a hospital, where she died from her injuries.

“The driver did not stay on scene,” the news release said. “Efforts are ongoing to identify and locate the vehicle involved.”
The crash remains under investigation by the Raleigh Police Department.
