RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — Some severe thunderstorms have rolled into central NC Monday evening, leaving in their wake hundreds of people without power and a home smashed by a tree in Franklin County.

Duke Energy’s outage map shows more than 1,000 people without power in the Triangle, with even more farther southeast near Lumberton.

The outage near Lumberton and the outage along Smithfield Road in Wake County were both caused by a tree falling on equipment, according to Duke Energy. The outage map shows crews are working to fix both outages, and power is estimated to be restored by 10:30 p.m. at the time of publication.
In addition to multiple power outages, trees have fallen elsewhere in central NC, including in Franklin County.
According to Franklin County Emergency Services, a massive tree fell on a home in Zebulon around 6 p.m. due to severe weather moving through the area. Franklin County Emergency Management, the Pilot Fire Department and the American Red Cross of North Carolina all responded to the call.

Franklin County Emergency Services said no one was injured, and the Red Cross is helping the family.
“We are grateful for the quick response from our emergency service partners and that no one was injured; we hope for a quick recovery for this family,” Franklin County Emergency Management Director Nicholas Thorpe said in a statement.
