DUDLEY, N.C. (WNCN) — Police are investigating the circumstances around a shooting that led to a person sustaining serious injuries late Saturday morning in Wayne County.

According to a spokesperson for the county, deputies responded to a shooting around 11:02 a.m. on Nancy Drive, just off of U.S. Highway 13, in the Dudley area.
The spokesperson said the Mar-Mac Fire Department and Wayne County EMS also responded to the scene.

The person who was shot was airlifted after EMS began rendering care, according to the spokesperson.
