APEX, N.C. (WNCN) — A body was recovered by the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office on Friday night at Jordan Lake, officials confirmed Saturday.

A spokesperson with the sheriff’s office said they responded around 7 p.m. in an area of Jordan Lake near the N.C. 751 bridge.
The spokesperson said the body was found in the water after the arrival of responding deputies.
“The investigation remains ongoing, and no more information is available at this time,” Randall Rigsbee, spokesman for the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office, said in an email.

The identity of the person found at Jordan Lake is withheld pending notification of next-of-kin, according to a news release Friday night from deputies.
“There is no known threat to the public,” Rigsbee added.
A news release Friday night from the sheriff’s office said there was a report about a body in Jordan Lake, but did not confirm that a body was found or recovered.
