DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) — A lightning strike sparked a house fire in Durham as strong storms moved through the area on Sunday afternoon, according to fire officials.

The Durham Fire Department said crews responded to a reported structure fire in the 2100 block of Collier Road.
When firefighters arrived, they found smoke coming from the attic and roof area. Crews quickly extinguished the fire, limiting damage to the home.

Two residents were displaced by the fire and will receive assistance from the American Red Cross. No injuries were reported.
The Durham Fire Department told CBS 17 the fire appears to have been caused by a lightning strike during the afternoon storms. Durham County EMS also responded to the scene.
