RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — A woman was struck by a vehicle early Tuesday morning on South Saunders Street in Raleigh, prompting the closure of inbound lanes while police investigate.

According to the Raleigh Police Department, officers responded around 4:42 a.m. to the 2600 block of South Saunders Street, just south of Interstate 40, for a reported pedestrian-involved crash.
Investigators said a female pedestrian was hit by a vehicle. The extent of her injuries was not immediately available, as police said they were unable to release that information.

The driver remained at the scene following the crash, police said.
Inbound lanes on South Saunders Street are expected to remain closed for the next one to two hours as officers continue their investigation.
