Severe storms and flooding rain from Thursday will give way to more beneficial rain Friday. Total rainfall Thursday was above two inches at RDU Airport, the highest single-day total so far this year.
Thursday also saw the coolest high temperature in two months, with highs in the mid to lower 70s. Friday will be warmer, but still below typical highs in the low 90s for this time of year. For the month of July, we now have more than 8 inches of rain at RDU Airport in the Triangle, which is the most since September 2024 when Helene hit the state.
While more rain is likely Friday and Saturday, temperatures will also continue to stay below average. Highs will be near 80 by Saturday before rising into the mid- and upper 80s Sunday as drier weather and more sunshine return.
As we enter the last week of July, temperatures will warm back up into the low 90s, with weather typical of late July. This means rain chances, but more spotty chances for rain during the afternoon.

SATURDAY will be mostly cloudy with more rain. The high will be 81. Winds will be light out of the northeast.
