This marks the end of a soggy stretch across central North Carolina, with most communities receiving 2 to 4 inches of rain over the past week and a few locations picking up more than 6 inches. While additional rain is expected Saturday, it won’t be nearly as widespread or as heavy as what we’ve seen recently. The clouds and rain will also keep temperatures well below average, with afternoon highs only reaching the upper 70s.
A much nicer weather pattern settles in on Sunday as sunshine returns and dry air filters into the region. Temperatures will rebound into the 80s, but the noticeably lower humidity will make it feel much more comfortable a great day to get outside after the recent stretch of wet weather.
The warming trend continues into next week, with highs gradually climbing back into the upper 80s and lower 90s by the middle of the week. Humidity will also begin to increase, bringing back a more typical late-summer feel. Our next opportunity for more widespread showers and thunderstorms arrives around the middle of the week as another cold front approaches. Until then, expect a return to more seasonable weather with temperatures and rain chances close to normal for this time of year.
