Despite the wettest July in nearly 100 years, August is starting off soggy with showers and storm chances Sunday and continuing every day this week.

Sunday afternoon and night, nearly all of central North Carolina is under a marginal risk (Level 1) for severe weather, with damaging winds and localized torrential rainfall.
Widespread severe weather is not expected every day, but any thunderstorm can produce torrential rainfall, frequent lightning, and localized flooding.
A dry overnight and start to Monday will see showers and storms bubbling up during the afternoon and evening, as highs in the 80s and high humidity lead to a steamy environment.
Tuesday looks to be the wettest day of the week with the most widespread rain.
Rain chances remain but slowly decrease through the second half of the week and towards the weekend. As rain chances go down, temperatures start to go up. We’ll be in the middle 80s through Wednesday before upper 80s end out the week and lower 90s return by the weekend into the next week.
Every day on the 10-day forecast carries at least a small rain chance. But the pattern will turn more hit-or-miss as the temperatures begin to cook again.

OVERNIGHT will be partly cloudy and muggy. The low will be 72. Winds will be out of the south at 5 to 10 miles per hour.
MONDAY will be mostly clear with scattered showers and storms. The high will be 84. Winds will be out of the southwest at 5 to 10 miles per hour.
TUESDAY will be partly cloudy with scattered showers and storms. The high will be 85. Winds will be out of the south at 5 miles per hour.
