More record heat possible through Wednesday before late-week rain chances in central NC

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — Another afternoon of record highs is possible Tuesday, following back-to-back days with record temperatures on Sunday and Monday.

Middle 90s will return under mostly clear skies. The record for the day is 95 degrees, with a forecast of 94. 

It’ll be just as hot on Wednesday before some changes begin to arrive by late-week with an approaching cold front. 

Good rain chances return on Thursday with temperatures a bit cooler, topping off in the middle 80s. Scattered rain chances persist through Friday and into the holiday weekend. It won’t rain every second of the day, but showers will be around. 

The same unsettled pattern carries into early the next week. Memorial Day Monday will feature mid-80s and a few showers. That’s the forecast from then through at least Thursday of next week. 

More than an inch of rain is expected to fall over the next 7 days combined.

TUESDAY will be mostly clear. The high will be 94. Winds will be 5 miles per hour out of the southwest.

OVERNIGHT will be mostly clear. The low will be 67. Winds will be 5 miles per hour out of the south.

WEDNESDAY will be mostly clear with a few more clouds late in the day The high will be 95. Winds will be 5 to 10 miles per hour out of the southwest.
