RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — Hoke County is among two placed under a severe thunderstorm warning Monday evening.

The National Weather Service in Raleigh issued the alert shortly after 6 p.m. for Hoke as well as Scotland County. Forecasters said a “cluster of severe thunderstorms” was spotted on radar a few miles west of Antioch and southwest of Raeford, leading to the warning.

The main hazards with the storm are 60 mile-per-hour wind gusts and penny-sized hail. Cities and towns in the impact area include Raeford, Laurinburg and Maxton, among others. The warning is set to expire at 6:45 p.m.
