WILLOW SPRING, N.C. (WNCN) — After almost a year of a Spectrum internet cable laying across several driveways in Holly Springs, CBS 17 reporter Judith Retana was able to get the company to bury the line for those residents in a matter of hours.

Now, more people are coming forward, facing the same problem with their solution also coming quickly.
Michael Jones of Willow Spring submitted a video where he shows a long cable coming out of a utility box and lying across several properties, including his own.
“Here on Eric Street, in the Willow Bluffs subdivision, there is a cable going from a utility box on my property across two of my neighbors’ properties, and into yet another property connecting to another box. Not only is it a trip hazard, it is also a mowing hazard because it stretches across lawns,” Jones wrote to us.
He tells CBS 17 his neighbor called Spectrum about the line in October, and he called in November. Jones says they were told someone would be out in two weeks to bury the line but no one ever came.
“It seems like no one cares. Is there anything you can do to help?” he asked.
CBS 17 did care, so we contacted Spectrum to ask if we could get Jones and his neighbors some help with this line. Just hours after CBS 17 made contact with Spectrum about the exposed lines, Jones said technicians were in his neighborhood addressing the issue and burying the cable line.

Just last week, Judith Retana worked with the company to get another line buried in Holly Springs. That line was lying across several driveways for nearly a year.
“We couldn’t get it taken care of. One day, we were watching your show, and, thought, well, let’s try that,” said Jim King.

“That’s what this is, what’s driving us crazy so that’s what we did. Called you and got action right away,” said Dee King.
A Spectrum spokesperson told us at the time, “We’re very sorry for the long delay in resolving this issue and will look into where the miscommunication may have occurred to ensure this doesn’t happen again. As soon as we became aware of the issue, the repairs were made/completed immediately.”
