GREENSBORO, N.C. (WGHP) – Neese’s Country Sausage is returning to store shelves starting in August.
Raleigh-based company, Jesse Jones LLC, purchased the Piedmont Triad staple in June. The company announced on Tuesday that three Neese’s Country Sausage products will return to more than 500 Food Lion stores in North Carolina and Virginia. The company said they plan to roll out products chain-wide in the fall.
The Town & Country Meat and Produce Market in Greensboro has sold the products since it opened its doors in the late ’80s.
Christy Umfleet is one owner of her family’s multi-generational store. She remembers a Neese’s Country Sausage truck filling their shelves with products for customers. She said deliveries started dwindling around the holidays in 2025.
She said the products are a big deal for customers. Mike Cranford sees a similar demand for the product as the store manager of Charles Place No. 2 in Randleman.

“Around Christmas or holidays, we couldn’t keep it on the shelves,” Cranford said. “Orders were double, triple sometimes.”
FOX8 learned that a notice of suspension was issued by the USDA in September 2025, which shut down a specific production line. The lack of products had customers asking questions.
“Several times a day, they call. I bet … at least 10 times a day,” Umfleet said.
Umfleet said that she is unsure if they will finally get the chance to restock since the products disappeared.
“If I were to sell it, I would have to go through another distribution company to get it,” Umfleet said. “Before, they would just come in, and we would just tell them what we wanted, and they would fill our counters up. So now, we would kind of have to know exactly how much we want, and we heard … that they would be frozen coming in, so I’m trying to debate the pros and cons.”
