Summer has settled back into central North Carolina as higher humidity and increasing sunshine send temperatures climbing once again. With high pressure anchored off the Southeast coast and an upper-level ridge building in from the southwest, warm, humid air will remain in place through much of next week. This means the hot and humid weather that we expect for early August will settle in with highs running near, or even slightly above average, in the low to mid-90s.

Rain chances remain hit or miss through the weekend as most of the storms will be tied to the heat and humidity of the day. This means while they will be isolated in coverage, they could still produce gusty winds and localized heavy rain before falling apart shortly after sunset.
Conditions will be a little drier to start next week, but temperatures will still be hot, easily climbing into the mid-90s. Add in high humidity, we will feel like 100° even as high as 103° each afternoon. By the end of next week, our pattern becomes more active, so expect temperatures near 90 with slightly better chances for rain.
