Hot, muggy weather for central NC before cold front brings rain ahead of holiday weekend

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — The record-breaking stretch of hot weather continues for one more day ahead of our next cold front. Highs will again soar into the mid-90s on Wednesday, coming within one degree of the high temperature record for the day, which is 96, set back in 2022.

The cold front arrives late Thursday, bringing with it a chance for rain and a few storms, mainly late in the afternoon and evening.

As the cold front drifts south on Friday, temperatures will be a little cooler. However, the front is going to lift back north allowing the muggy air and warm temperatures to push back in. This means the holiday weekend will be warm and muggy and have more scattered chances for rain.

While it won’t be a washout of a weekend, have indoor backups for any outdoor plans!
