Hot weather with afternoon storms continue this weekend in central NC

A cold front will bring evening storm chances for some Friday night, but the front won’t bring a lot of cool air.

Rain chances will be higher this weekend as the front won’t completely clear the area, with temperatures staying in the 90s! The heat and humidity means storms could get strong quickly, briefly producing gusty winds and isolated heavy rain.

Even hotter weather returns to start next week, with temperatures once again climbing into the mid to upper 90s. By the middle of next week, we could see a subtle shift in the overall weather pattern that would bring temperatures back toward the lower 90s and provide at least some relief from the prolonged heat.

We’re also keeping a close eye on the tropics as activity increases across the Atlantic, but there is currently no tropical threat to North Carolina or the mainland United States over the next week. We’ll continue to monitor the tropics closely as we move deeper into hurricane season.
