GREENVILLE, S.C. (WSPA) — Actress Hayden Panettiere, known for her roles in “Heroes” and “Nashville,” has died at an apartment complex in Greenville.

Officers with the Greenville Police Department and EMS personnel responded to a report of an unresponsive woman at Judson Mill Lofts on Easley Bridge Road on Sunday, August 16, before 2 p.m.
Medical assistance was administered, but the woman later identified as Panettiere was pronounced dead at the scene. She was 36.
Police shared that an acquaintance of Panettiere’s placed the 911 call.
No further details have been released at this time, but police said the preliminary investigation has not turned up any signs of foul play or suspicious circumstances.
Panettiere’s death was confirmed Sunday night through her representative. Her father, Skip Panettiere, released a statement calling her “an incredible light and a force of nature who brought immeasurable love and joy to all who knew her and to millions who watched her onscreen.”

He asked for privacy as the family processes the loss.
Panettiere began acting as a child, appearing on “One Life to Live” at age 4. She went on to star as Claire Bennet on “Heroes” and Juliette Barnes on “Nashville,” earning nominations at the Golden Globes, Critics’ Choice Television Awards, and Teen Choice Awards. Her film credits include “Remember the Titans,” “Ice Princess,” “Raising Helen,” and “Scream 4.”
Panettiere is survived by her daughter, Kaya, whom she shared with former fiancé Wladimir Klitschko. Her brother, actor Jansen Panettiere, died in 2023 at age 28.
Her death remains under investigation by the Greenville Police Department and the Greenville County Coroner’s Office.
