Hot, humid weather continues through Thursday in central NC

The first cold front of the week will not bring cold air the rest of the week, but the next cold front, which will arrive Friday, will bring more changes to our weather here in central North Carolina in time for the weekend and next week.

Until then, an early summertime pattern more reminiscent of July than mid-August stays in place again Wednesday and Thursday. Afternoon highs will climb into the low to mid-90s with and isolated shower or storm possible each day. No day will be a washout, but while some see beneficial rain, others will stay totally dry.

The pattern becomes more unsettled late in the week as a cold front slowly approaches central North Carolina.

Because of the slow-moving nature of the front, Friday and Saturday currently have the best rain chances of the 10-day period, with showers and thunderstorms becoming more numerous and temperatures dropping into the upper 80s.

Temperatures will stay in the upper 80s through most of next week, which while isn’t overly cool, is much closer to what our temperatures are supposed to be this time of year.

FORECAST

OVERNIGHT will be mostly clear. The low will be 74. Winds will be northwest at 5 miles per hour.

WEDNESDAY will be partly cloudy with isolated showers. The high will be 93. Winds will be light out of the north.

THURSDAY will be partly cloudy with afternoon storms. The high will be 95. Winds will be out of the south at 5 miles per hour.
