Water main breaks on North Roxboro Street in Durham

DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) — A water main has broken in Durham early Wednesday morning.

A CBS 17 team was at the scene of the water main break in the 2000 block of North Roxboro Street between East Club and East Lavender Avenue at around 5 a.m.

First responders, the water department, and Enbridge gas worked on closing the area and repairing the break while water could be seen coming out of the road.

The 2000 block of North Roxboro Street is closed while crews work to repair the break. They will need to open up the concrete, replace the broken pipe, and close the concrete again before the road can reopen.

Drivers must seek an alternate route while repairs are underway.

Officials have not said when North Roxboro Street is expected to reopen as of early Wednesday morning, but the repairs are expected to last several hours.
