(WNCN) \u2014 Memorial Day weekend is the unofficial start of summer, but it\u2019s also when boating season starts picking up. <\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/raleighmovingnews.com\/?p=1024\">Wake Tech Eagles baseball team heads to first NJCAA World Series tournament<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Tar Heel state has already had several boating-related deaths, which is why the North Carolina Wildlife Resource Commission is now urging people to boat sober.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPeople are out there having fun, so they might forget how dangerous drinking and operating can be,\u201d\u00a0 said master officer Joseph Spears with wildlife resource commission.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Spears is among the wildlife officers patrolling waters Memorial Day weekend and throughout the summer. But just like with drinking and driving, drinking and boating is very dangerous,\u201d Spears said.<\/p>\n<p>So far this year, the commission reports five fatal boating incidents in North Carolina.
