EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) \u2014 F\u00fatbol really is life for \u201cTed Lasso\u201d actor Cristo Fern\u00e1ndez.<\/p>

Known as the lovable, energetic Dani Rojas on the hit Apple TV series, Fern\u00e1ndez has officially signed with the United Soccer League (USL)\u2019s El Paso Locomotive FC.<\/p>\n

The signing is pending league and federation approval, and terms of the deal were not disclosed, per club policy.<\/p>\n

Fern\u00e1ndez joins El Paso after an extensive two-month trial with the club.<\/p>\n

Nexstar\u2019s KTSM first reported in March that Fern\u00e1ndez logged 30 minutes in a preseason scrimmage against New Mexico United during the early stages of his trial with the Locomotive.<\/p>

Since then, Fern\u00e1ndez has become a regular presence in training with the team.<\/p>\n

\u201cF\u00fatbol has always been a huge part of my life and identity, and no matter where life has taken me, the dream of competing professionally never truly left my heart,\u201d Fern\u00e1ndez said in a press release. \u201cI\u2019m incredibly grateful to El Paso Locomotive FC \u2013 the club, coaches, staff, and especially my teammates \u2013 for opening the doors and giving me the opportunity to compete from day one.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThis journey back to professional f\u00fatbol (soccer) is about believing in yourself, taking risks, and continuing to chase your dreams no matter how unexpected the path may be,\u201d Fern\u00e1ndez added. \u201cBecause as we say in Mexico: hay que seguirle echando ganas (let\u2019s keep giving it our all).\u201d<\/p>\n

El Paso Locomotive FC will be back in action May 27 when they take on AV Alta FC in a USL Cup match.<\/p>
