\u201cI\u2019m disgusted. It\u2019s hard to look at, but it\u2019s also hard on the environment,\u201d said Lizzie McCrory, a resident.<\/p>\n

Trash, old electronics and mattresses sit piled up near High Rock Road and Lynch Store Road in Alamance County.<\/p>\n

McCrory\u00a0lives not far from the road where the dumping site sits and\u00a0says it\u2019s\u00a0a problem\u00a0she\u2019s noticed for years.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s been at least 15 years. That\u2019s as long as I\u2019ve been laying eyes on it \u2026 It is a common issue,\u201d McCrory said.<\/p>\n

She\u2019s not alone in her concerns. Many people off-camera expressed similar frustrations about the dumping.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe trash is sitting there, and it\u2019s not getting picked up, and other people see that and take that opportunity to dump their own trash there,\u201d McCrory said.<\/p>

Official Response<\/h2>\n

Alamance County officials say the county\u2019s environmental health department received a complaint in 2025 about the dumping and says it was addressed, but they also say the most recent complaint came within the last week.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey cleaned it up, and it just immediately goes back to the state. Honestly, it just piles right back up. I think they are going to have to coordinate it off or something to keep people off of here,\u201d McCrory said.<\/p>\n

The North Carolina Department of Transportation says they have been called about the issue in the past, and their maintenance crews have picked up the trash several times.<\/p>\n

The NCDOT says they are working with local law enforcement to try to stop the illegal dumping.<\/p>\n

Alamance County officials say they do not have a timeline for when the area could be fully cleaned up, but they say they are still communicating with the landowner.<\/p>
