RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) \u2014 High pressure remains firmly in control of our weather pattern, setting the stage for a prolonged stretch of hot and mostly dry conditions. <\/p>

Temperatures will climb a little higher each day through the weekend, with highs reaching the mid-90s by Saturday and Sunday. A weak backdoor cold front will attempt to slide south into the region late Sunday into Monday. <\/p>\n

While it may spark an isolated shower or thunderstorm, rainfall coverage looks limited,\u00a0and amounts will be far from drought-relieving. The front is expected to weaken quickly, allowing high pressure to regain control by early next week.<\/p>\n

Humidity levels will continue to increase as we head into next week. A strengthening ridge of high pressure across the Southeast will lock in a classic summer weather pattern, featuring hot afternoons, warm nights, and only isolated pop-up showers and storms.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, there are no significant rainmakers on the horizon. While a few scattered showers may develop from time to time, widespread beneficial rainfall remains absent from the forecast. The overall pattern favors continued warmth, growing humidity, and persistent drought concerns across central North Carolina. <\/p>\n

Looking ahead through the next 7 to 10 days, temperatures are expected to remain above average, with highs generally in the upper 80s to middle 90s and only low-end chances for afternoon showers. Summer has arrived early, and it appears to be settling in for a while.<\/p>
