ROANOKE RAPIDS, N.C. (WNCN) \u2014 The search for a missing Roanoke Rapids Lake kayaker has come to an end after crews found his body Saturday, according to the Halifax County Sheriff\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n

Angel Rafael Aparicio Martinez went missing on May 14 after the two-person kayak he and his friend were in capsized in the lake.<\/p>\n

Martinez\u2019s friend was able to be rescued by responders from the Roanoke Rapids Police Department. Roanoke Rapids Fire Department, Gaston Volunteer Fire Department and Halifax EMS, but could not find Martinez.<\/p>\n

Martinez\u2019s family told CBS 17 that he gave the kayak\u2019s only lifejacket to his friend before it overturned.<\/p>

The search for Martinez saw more than 20 state and local agencies band together to try and find him. The agencies included the Halifax County Sheriff\u2019s Office, Nash County Sheriff\u2019s Office, North Carolina State Highway Patrol, North Carolina Emergency Management and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation.<\/p>\n
