RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) \u2014 The heat is on in The Triangle this weekend as temperatures are soaring into the 90\u2019s \u2014 with 97 degrees forecast for Sunday.<\/p>

People are finding ways to keep their cool as this early-season heatwave turns sidewalks into skillets, parking lots into pressure cookers, and parks into oases.<\/p>\n

Splash pads like the one at Dix Park\u2019s Gipson Play Plaza in Raleigh quickly became one of the hottest attractions in town on Saturday.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe thought it was a good day for (the kids) to come out and just have some fun, get them out of the house and, you know,\u201d Laurin Hammond said.<\/p>\n

\u201cJust letting the kids play,\u201d Scott Topal added. \u201cTrying to stay cool.\u201d<\/p>\n

Whether it\u2019s cooling off under fountains, finding a shady spot in the park, or simply staying indoors with the air conditioning, one thing is clear: This weekend\u2019s weather is no joke.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe entire weekend is gonna be on the hot side, 95 to 97 degrees all across the board,\u201d CBS 17 meteorologist Matthew Huddleston said. \u201cThe one thing is humidity isn\u2019t going to be as high as it could be for this time of year.\u201d<\/p>\n

Many parents sheltered in the shade while keeping an eye on the kids in the cool zone.<\/p>

\u201cI keep around an umbrella just to try to keep some shade with me,\u201d Topal said.<\/p>\n

Healthcare professionals say early-season heatwaves can often be the toughest because our bodies haven\u2019t fully adjusted to the summer-like temperatures yet.<\/p>\n

\u201cI started to worry about myself,\u201d Topal said. \u201cI started to worry about the kids. Unless there\u2019s shade and water, it\u2019s really tough.\u201d<\/p>\n

First responders remind everyone to limit strenuous outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day.<\/p>
