CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (WNCN) \u2014 In a Game 3 that felt destined for the history books, North Carolina baseball\u00a0punched its ticket back to Omaha, rallying late and walking it off to clinch a trip to the Men\u2019s College World Series.<\/p>

Playing at home Sunday, Carolina entered the late innings trailing and staring elimination in the face. Down two runs, Macon Winslow delivered the spark the Tar Heels needed, lining a two-out double into the gap to cut the deficit to just one.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The pressure only intensified in the bottom of the ninth.<\/p>\n

Carter French found a hole through the infield, and Cooper Nicholson immediately flew from first to third to put the tying run just 90 feet away.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Then came Jake Schaffner with the season on the line. He lifted a sacrifice fly deep enough to center field to bring Nicholson home, tying the game at three.\u00a0<\/p>\n

With two outs in the ninth, Owen Hull stepped to the plate and launched a deep fly ball to center field that dropped untouched, setting off a wild celebration as Carolina completed the walk-off victory, winning 4-3.<\/p>

The victory sends Carolina back to the College World Series for the 13th time in program history and the second time in the last three seasons.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Tar Heels dropped the Chapel Hill Regional series opener on Friday, 9-5. On Saturday, UNC bounced back with a 4-0 victory, powered by a complete-game shutout from Jason DeCaro, forcing Sunday\u2019s winner-take-all Game 3.<\/p>\n

UNC will meet Ole Miss in the opening round of the Men\u2019s College World Series. The full Men\u2019s College World Series schedule will be announced at a later date.<\/p>
