FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) \u2014 While a woman battled an aggressive form of cancer, and amongst the usual support pouring from family and friends, her husband chose a special way to express his support.<\/p>

Ginger Edwards, an Administrative Specialist with the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, was recently diagnosed with breast cancer and found herself under the care of Cape Fear Valley Health.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy first thought was devastation,\u201d Ginger said. \u201cHearing the words \u2018aggressive\u2019 and \u2018chemo\u2019 put me in a very sad place. Hearing the \u2018C\u2019 word is very scary, but I knew God was going to be with me on every step of this journey.\u201d<\/p>\n

Officials with Cape Fear Valley Health said Edwards faced challenges from chemotherapy, like severe fatigue and magnesium and potassium deficiencies that required multiple infusions. Through it all, officials said Ginger is now cancer-free and has been cleared by her physicians.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy care team has been phenomenal,\u201d she said. \u201cFrom my surgeons to my oncology team and nurses, they took the best care of me every visit. My journey was hard at times, but God put me in a place at Cape Fear Valley where I received the best care and met wonderful people I will always cherish.\u201d<\/p>
