HIGH POINT, N.C. (WGHP) \u2014 A mother is desperately seeking answers after her son was killed in a hit-and-run. \u00a0<\/p>

Angela Arriaza said she was not home when the fatal hit-and-run happened on Friday evening.<\/p>\n

High Point police got the call about someone lying in the road near the intersection of East Russell Avenue and Hines Street just before 5 p.m. on Friday.<\/p>\n

First responders found five-year-old Luis Arriaza and learned he had been hit by a car. Police believe the car is a gray Ford Focus or Ford Fiesta, possibly from model years 2012-2018.<\/p>\n

Angela said she was about to get a tire changed when her babysitter gave her a call. She said the babysitter was watching Luis at home at the time.<\/p>\n

She said that she was told to come home quickly. She said that first responders crowded the road by the time she arrived. She said she was not able to see her son at the time.<\/p>\n

Luis was taken to the hospital, where he later died.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Angela said the tragedy behind a driver leaving a child on the side of the road is unimaginable.<\/p>

\u201cIt hurts,\u201d she said. \u201cThat the person that did this to him left him there like an animal, but not even a dog deserves that.\u201d<\/p>\n

Search for Answers<\/h2>\n

She said she does not understand why he left the home. She said she always reminded her children of the dangers.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI always told them about how dangerous the street is,\u201d Angela said. \u201cI always scolded him to not go out there. They have friends close by here, and for that, I don\u2019t understand because his friends are over there.\u201d<\/p>\n

She broke down into tears every time she remembered Friday. She smiles whenever she thinks of everything her son loved.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cHe liked Snoopy,\u201d Angela said. \u201cHis favorite was Legos. He liked to build.\u201d<\/p>\n

She has a message for the driver.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cYou destroyed me, but I believe in God, and I forgive them,\u201d Arriaza said. \u201cI forgive them, but it\u2019s a bad thing, and there\u2019s a bad consequence for their action, so that they don\u2019t hurt anyone else.\u201d<\/p>\n
